Agave Maria Recipe – A Bloody Mary With A Twist

A Bloody Mary is the near perfect drink. Not only does it give us our daily serving of vegetables, it can be customized to meet just about any taste preference. The Agave Maria swings it in a totally different direction by swapping out vodka with tequila.

So how did a cocktail with vodka and grapefruit juice get the name Greyhound? A recipe for a similar cocktail with the name “Greyhound” appears in Harper’s Magazine in 1945. “The cocktails were made of vodka, sugar, and canned grapefruit juice — a greyhound. This cocktail was served at Greyhound’s popular restaurant chain that was located at bus terminals, called ‘Post House’.”

A sidecar is generally made with cognac but why not toss the rules out the window. Substitute Irish whiskey for a new twist on a classic cocktail.
